Pressing for the policy and funding that make hepatitis elimination possible in New York City.

Committee

Advocacy

Join community members in supporting the City Council-funded Viral Hepatitis Initiative and advocating on local, state and federal policy and legislative issues.

Our Goals

  1. Educate City Council members on the impact of the Viral Hepatitis Initiative.
  2. Share advocacy and legislative information with community members and with staff at community-based organizations focused on harm reduction, syringe exchange, drug user health, immigrant and foreign-born populations, people with HIV/AIDS, and others at risk of viral hepatitis.
  3. Provide the Hep Free NYC community with information on state and federal legislative issues.

How Community Members Can Get Involved

Collective action drives real change, and community members are central to the work of eliminating hepatitis in New York City. There are several ways to get involved. However you choose to take part, you become part of a community working toward a healthier, safer New York City for everyone.

  • Attend our advocacy meetings

Meetings are a chance to hear about current policy issues, discuss strategy, and learn from people working in the field. Your perspective helps shape where the committee focuses its efforts.

  • Volunteer your time

Support outreach programs, help at community events, or lend a hand with administrative work. Volunteering connects you with others committed to hepatitis elimination.

  • Raise awareness in your networks

Share information about hepatitis and our campaigns on social media, in community groups, or in everyday conversation. Awareness is what builds the support behind policy change.

  • Make a donation

Financial support helps fund advocacy, research, and community programs. Contributions of any size move us closer to a hepatitis-free New York City.

  • Join the Advocacy Committee

Committee members take an active role in leading initiatives and influencing policy, helping ensure that the voices of people affected by hepatitis are part of the conversation.
